(Link til filmen, trykk her.)

Emne: Questions about hull production

Dear Sir/Madam.
I am writing a website about Merry Fisher 605.  (http://merry-fisher595.blogspot.com/)
I have had an MF595 and now have an MF605.
I use the boat for fishing and for travelling. I find the boat very capable compared to other 20-25 feet boats, in fact where an 27 feet boat can go I normally also can go. I have tested the boat in the maximum conditions given in the C6 and find it very capable.
I travel pretty long distances along the Norwegian coast, distances up to 265 nm each direction.

On the website I work to have good and correct information about the 605.
I am going to post about the hull, therefore I have been reading about the application method in the technical specifications, I can see that the application method is Wet laid fibre.

As far as I can remember the 595 was some kind of infusion method produced by the old Marine wharf with a .

I have some questions:
Do you have some graphics showing the hull construction and the support structures?
You use GRP and Balsa which give a good profile and thickness for the laminate, can you describe the process.
Why do you use wet laid fibre?  (I find the quality good so you obviously have a good process)? I know about other vessels which is used in the same area as mine has developed cracks in the hull, mine is pretty nice.

In former days I worked in a University , the department was materials and design. I still work with education, materials and design, it explain my material and design interest.

I understand that it can be factory secrets but you should have some official information.
I am not official press but my website is much used as a reference and inspiration for customers.

Other comments:
605 is a pretty nice piece of work, improving the already class leading design of the 595 so much is clever work.
On 595 it was waterproof between front and rear with a pump in each part, that you should continue with. The rubber gasket on the deck isn’t waterproof enough, then water is coming also in under the cabin floor.
Noise cancelling: Long distance travelling is exhausting caused by resonance in the double wall between cabin and rear deck, especially behind the driver. The Yamaha 115 compared to the old E-tec 90 which I had goes from pretty nice to worse. Its 10 Years between the motors, I hoped it should be better. Analysing the problem I have pointed out the double wall to be the main problem.

An other thing, the boats should have hydraulic steering as standard.
You can also be thinking about accessories for the boats.
- One example is to design a fishing box and fileting area on the bench after.
- Have a good mounting area and system for mounting different line haulers.
- Power on the rear deck

  1. Hi Asbjorn, hope you are well.
    Jeanneau builds great boats, like our MF605, but their customer service is horrendous... : don't expect much reply !
    Just a couple of 'design' improvements I'm noticing:
    - all electrical wiring: disgraceful, amazing it gets official approval;
    - main electrical switch inside cabin;
    - bowthruster as standard factory option;
    - mid-cleat as standard equipment;
    - twin engine as factory option

    Best,
    Sjak

  2. Hi Sjak, Thank you I feel great, hope you to does. I also hope you are satisfied with the boat.
    I see that Jeanneau is to big and to arrogant, but they make great boats.
    I have improved some of the electric.
    In the future I already have planned to move the main battery switches as you sugest.
    I also will work with some noice killing.
    Best regards
    Asbjørn.
